Which type of elastic is right for your project?
Durability: Lastin® elastic is designed to withstand longer the
harsh enviornment cloth diapers are subjected to regularly. However,
if you are not simply sewing down your elastic using a 3-step zig-zag
stitch, regular Stretch-Rite® cotton swimwear or polybraid elastic
are terrific alternatives.
Sewing Method: To successfully apply Lastin® ¼" you need
to sew using a 3-step zigzag stitch the length of the elastic. If you
do not have this stitch or you are sewing a casing or gusset, you will
want to use the Stretch-Rite® cotton swimwear or polybraid
¼" elastic using a regular zigzag stitch.

Lastin® ¼"

Lastin® is the industry standard in clear elastic. Proven against
seawater, oil, urine, light acids, perspiration, cosmetics, and
general solvents. Lastin® is ideal for sportswear, swimwear,
lingerie, infant wear and bed sheets. Excellent fabric memory, over
300% stretch. Lastin® retains its ability to perform under extreme
hot and cold temperatures. Will Not Tear, Can be stitched without
tearing. Lastin® will not wear out, and will last for the life of
the garment. Lastin® has 4 to 5 times the stretch of rubber elastic.
Lastin® ¼" wide requires a 3-step zigzag sewing machine stitch for application,
which most sewing machines have the ability to do. A regular zigzag stitch
will not successfully apply the Lastin® to your project.
Optional Use: Lastin® is perfect for stabilizing shoulder seams in
children and adult clothing where seam tape is suggested.
NOTE: Elastic is not carded, so that I can offer it at
such a great price!

Lastin® 3/8"
|
|
This size is standard for CuddleWraps™ and Cuddle-In-One™ which
are available as part of the CuddleBuns™ pattern. Due to the nature
of Lastin®, this size becomes too tight and too large for regular
CuddleBuns™ diapers.
Lastin® 3/8" wide can be applied with a regular machine zigzag
stitch. The 3-step zigzag could be optionally used as well.

Stretch-Rite® Polybraid Elastic
Content: 71% Polyester, 29% Rubber
1/4" width is typically used in smaller and multi sized diapers.
3/8" width is sometimes preferred for larger diapers.
1/2" is used for Side-Snapping PooPockets™ Waist and children's clothing.
High-quality standard polybraid elastic. Sewn with a
regular zigzag stitch, polybraid elastic works great for diapers,
clothes and more. This elastic will wear out before Lastin®
elastic, but is slightly easier and more familiar to sew.

Stretch-Rite® Cotton Swimwear Elastic
Content: 65% Cotton, 35% Rubber
1/4" width is typically used in smaller and multi sized diapers.
3/8" width is sometimes preferred for larger diapers.
This size is currently out of stock.
High-quality cotton swimwear elastic is built to handle chlorine.
Sewn with a regular zigzag stitch, cotton braided elastic works great
for diapers, clothes and more. This elastic will typically wear out
in a diaper before Lastin® elastic, but is slightly easier and more
familiar to sew.

Stretch-Rite® No-Roll Polybraid Elastic
Content: 66% Polyester, 34% Rubber
High-quality standard polybraid no-roll elastic. Used typically for
waist lines and cuffs where the ends are sewn into a loop or threaded
through a closed ring and attached at the seams for security.
This is perfect for New Conceptions™ Reversible Pants and similar
clothing items.
